Monitoring of impacts on biota (plant and animal species or habitats of Community interest) is essential to objectively and transparently assess the effects of concrete actions that will be carried out.

The monitoring activities identified to evaluate the effectiveness of the actions include indicators that will give quantitative values allowing a comparative assessment of the data collected. In addition, all areas of interventions will be geo-referenced and mapped through GIS (action D1).

Monitoring activities will have to link up as much as possible with the methods described in the scientific monitoring program (action D3); thus data related to number/density of population, areal of distribution of target habitat and species and related to habitat changes will be collected in the database Regional Biodiversity Observatory in Lombardy (ORBL) and will contribute to the evaluation of the conservation status of habitats and animal and plant species in Lombardy.
