The Convention on Biological Diversity<\/strong> (CBD<\/a>) has published the fifth edition of the global perspectives on biodiversity, the Global Biodiversity Outlook 5<\/strong><\/em>. According to the document, created with the contribution of the United Nations environment program<\/strong> (Unep<\/a>), biodiversity is declining at an unprecedented pace<\/strong> while the pressures linked directly and not to anthropic activities intensify.<\/p>\n

The COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the importance of the relationship between people and nature, and the profound consequences that can result from continued biodiversity loss and the degradation of ecosystems.<\/p>\n

According to the report, countries will need to redouble efforts to bring biodiversity into the mainstream of decision making<\/strong>, recognizing that the pressures threatening nature and its contributions to people can only be eased if biodiversity is explicitly factored into policies across the whole of government and among all economic sectors.<\/p>\n
