The public consultation<\/strong> on the communication from the European Commission entitled “Intensifying EU action to protect and restore the world’s forests<\/a>“, which aims to improve the vitality, resilience and extension of forest ecosystems, will remain open until 10 December 2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The consultation will contribute to the formulation of the specific EU forestry strategy<\/strong> that the European Commission intends to propose in 2021.<\/p>\n

The proposal will include a roadmap for planting at least 3 billion additional trees<\/strong> in the EU by 2030, in full compliance with ecological principles: this goal will create significant job opportunities<\/strong> related to harvesting and growing seeds, planting the seedlings and taking care of their development.<\/p>\n

Planting trees is particularly beneficial for cities, and even in the countryside it can be perfectly combined with agroforestry, landscape features and intensified carbon capture.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Commission will continue to work with Member States to ensure that the Union is sufficiently equipped to prevent and extinguish major forest fires<\/strong>, which can cause significant damage to forest biodiversity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
