In May 2020, the Commission published its new EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2030<\/strong>, as an integral part of the Green Deal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The new Biodiversity Strategy sets the objective<\/strong> to ensure that \u2018by 2050 all of the world\u2019s ecosystems are restored, resilient and adequately protected<\/strong><\/em>\u2019, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate change.<\/p>\n

The four pillars<\/strong> of the new EU Biodiversity Strategy are 1) to protect nature,2) to restore nature, 3) to enable transformative change and 4) to set an ambitious Global Agenda.<\/p>\n

The EU Biodiversity Strategy represents also a significant contribution to Europe\u2019s economic recovery<\/strong>. Investing in nature restoration and nature based solutions will create new jobs<\/strong> and provide fresh business opportunities for many sectors of the economy.<\/p>\n
